BURLINGTON, N.C. (WNCN) — North Carolina officials issued and later canceled an alert Saturday for a missing endangered teen girl who authorities said vanished “under suspicious circumstances.”

Mya Savannah Johnson, 14, was believed to be suffering from a cognitive impairment, according to the alert from the North Carolina Center for Missing Persons.

Mya was last seen at 323 Brooklyn St. in Burlington, officials said.

Hours after the first alert on Saturday morning, an update was sent out at 1:15 p.m. Saturday that said Mya was “missing under suspicious circumstances.”

Mya was last seen getting into a black Hyundai Veloster, which left in an unknown direction, the alert said.

Officials added the Hyundai might be heading to “an unknown location in Guilford County.”

Around 5 p.m. Saturday, officials canceled the alert.
