RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Potential Tropical Cyclone Eight moved onshore Monday evening, according to the National Hurricane Center. As of 5 p.m. the center of the low pressure was located 45 miles west of Cape Fear, North Carolina.

All tropical storm warnings along the coast have been allowed to expire, however Flood Watches and Wind Advisories are in effect for some communities until early Tuesday morning, but the greatest risk from this system will be heavy rain and localized flooding. Most of the area will receive 2-4″ with isolated totals over 6″.

The saturated grounds may also combine with tropical storm-force wind gusts which could result in isolated power outages. A Wind Advisory remains in effect for many southwest of the Triangle through 2 a.m. Tuesday. Expect wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour.

Saturated soil and gusty winds could result in downed trees or limbs falling on powerlines, causing isolated power outages. Fortunately what is left of this low pressure will move away through the night, and during the day Tuesday, meaning we should start to dry out Tuesday. Spotty showers are still possible, but nothing like what we dealt with Monday.
