RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – Some of the greatest and most accomplished athletes throughout the globe are coming to the Triangle this week to highlight an important conversation.
The North Carolina Courage is set to host the “Women in Sports Panel: A Conversation with Olympians” at the City Club Raleigh on Wednesday evening.
Panelists include N.C. Courage defender and German bronze medalist Feli Rauch, North Carolina State graduate and gold medalist Katharine Berkoff , two-time Paralympian and dual gold medalist Hannah Aspden, as well as Duke alumna and two-time Canadian Olympian Maddy Price.
This event will provide attendees with a chance to hear from these world-class athletes regarding their experiences with leadership in sports and competing at the Olympic level.
Currently in her first season with the Courage following a distinguished career in Germany, Rauch made an immediate impact on the pitch, starting in 17 games so far in 2024. On the international stage, she’s made 36 appearances for the German National Team since 2017, netting four goals and dishing out five assists. Rauch earned her first Olympic honor after being chosen as an alternate for her home country at the 2024 Paris Games , coming away with a bronze medal in the process.
Berkoff, a five-time NCAA swimming champion during her college career, took home two medals in her first Olympic Games. She won bronze in the women’s 100-meter backstroke and gold in the 400-meter medley relay, becoming the first-ever female Wolfpack swimmer to finish on the Olympic podium.
Aspden, who’s now competing at the Paris Paralympics, has gathered quite a decorated resume in the pool. In 2016, the Raleigh native was the youngest swimmer on Team USA to podium at either the Olympics or the Paralympics in Rio, securing a pair of bronze medals. Meanwhile, she also returned home from the 2020 Tokyo Games with two gold medals of her own.
Setting numerous records during her four-year stint with the Duke track and field program, Price has been able to continue to compete at a very level, representing Canada at both the Olympic Games in Tokyo and Paris. She helped her country place fourth in the 4×400-meter relay in 2020 and finished sixth during the same event in 2024.
N.C. Courage’s panel is scheduled to begin on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
