ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) – Democratic vice presidential nominee Governor Tim Walz made a campaign stop Tuesday in Asheville.

It was the first campaign stop for Walz in Asheville. Vice President Kamala Harris held rallies in Charlotte and Greensboro last week as the two Democrats vie for votes in North Carolina.

During Tuesday’s rally, Walz laid out Vice President Harris’ vision if she is elected as president.

“If you’re hoping to buy a home someday — which all of us want to — she’s going to help make it more affordable,” Walz said. “If you’re getting squeezed on grocery prices and prescription drugs, she’s going to make sure we take on the price gougers and big pharma.”

Hundreds of people waited in the rain to hear Walz speak. Several people told 7NEWS some of the biggest issues important to them in the upcoming election are women’s rights, abortion rights and same sex marriage.

“Women’s rights are so important,” Robin Bubonic said. “The economy is another big subject. We just need to learn to get along with each other.”

“Reproductive rights for sure and freedom for everyone to choose who they want to be with, who they want to love and who they want to marry,” Kelly Gee said.

North Carolina is expected to  be a battleground state in November. A poll conducted by Eastern Carolina University between August 26 and August 28 found Former President Donald Trump is leading Vice President Harris by one percentage point in North Carolina.

“We’re a swing state,” Bubonic said. “It’s going to be a really close battle. Everybody needs to get out and vote.”

Walz took several jabs at former President Trump, referencing how his policies have affected North Carolinians.

“He killed thousands of manufacturing jobs across this state,” Walz said.

“Trump has no plan for you,” he added. “He has no plan to improve your life. Kamala Harris is a very different story. Growing up in that middle class family, she’s laid our a plan for an opportunity economy. I think it’s important to tell our neighbors this.”

Walz made campaign stops in Macon, Georgia and Atlanta earlier Tuesday.

Donald Trump made a stop in Asheville in mid-August.

Asheville, I'm sure all they are worried about is same sex marriages and abortion. It's already left up to the States on abortion and that won't change. Even if they win, it's all lies to get idiot democrats to vote for them, or it would have already changed the Supreme Court has already ruled on that and their is nothing Kamala can do about it
