DAPHNE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Motorcycles came around the corner at the Daphne Civic Center on Wednesday night escorting sixth grader Blayne Franklin.

Blayne’s mom, Ryan Robinson, said Blayne was ready to go to the dance with his friends until he found out his friends already had plans.

“All these kids got a limo,” Robinson said. “He was told he can’t ride with them, or that it’s full, or they’re not allowed to invite other people, so I’m just wondering why these parents didn’t reach out or anything.”

Blayne got something bigger and better than a limo ride, a community of motorcyclists coming together to escort him. JuJu, a part of the American Legion motorcycle group, set it all up.

“There is a lot of respect in the biker world, so when someone put something on Facebook about a need whether it’s a child, veteran, you put the word out, the biker community shows up,” JuJu said.

More than 80 bikes led Blayne to the dance. Blayne’s smile told us everything.

“I about cried,” Robinson said. “It brought tears to my eyes just because none of these people know me or my son. It was really surprising, and I’m just so grateful.”

Blayne went into his sixth-grade dance with his head held high, knowing he had a veteran to back him up.

“This is going to be something that he remembers for the rest of his life,” Robinson said.

Robinson said her message is to always include everyone and that each child should feel important.
