Alabama prison security guard arrested on contraband charge

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. ( WHNT ) — A security guard was arrested at Limestone Correctional Facility on Wednesday, the Alabama Department of Corrections announced.

According to the ADOC, agents and K-9 officers responded to Limestone Correctional Facility to help its staff arrest then-security guard Monica Blakeney. She is charged with second-degree promoting prison contraband.

The ADOC stated Blakeney resigned from her position. Court documents show Blakeney brought methamphetamine into the correctional facility.

Blakeney was booked into the Limestone County Jail but released on a $5,000 bond, according to court records.
