Troy to recognize 1984 national championship football team

TROY, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Troy University will recognize its 1984 NCAA Division II national championship football team during its home game against Florida A&M on Sept. 21.

According to Troy Athletics, all returning members of the national championship squad will get free tickets for the contest and join the 2024 team for the Trojan Walk before the game. Players on the national championship team will attend a pregame tailgate party in tailgate terrace. Those former Troy student-athletes are also invited to a team-only reception in the stadium club on the evening of Sept. 20.

The Trojans will wear special 1984 throwback helmets during the game. Commemorative posters will be given to fans for the celebration of Troy’s second national championship.
