    Parents killed in Calhoun County shooting

    OHATCHEE, Ala. (WIAT) — A mother and father are dead after a shooting in Ohatchee on Saturday afternoon.

    According to Calhoun County Sheriff Matthew Wade, he and deputies responded to a call at around 4 p.m. Saturday from a person who said he had just shot two people. They arrived at a home on Taylor Road in Ohatchee.

    The 911 caller, Tyler Ferguson, was immediately detained at the scene. Tyler Ferguson’s parents, Randall and Debbie Ferguson, were both found with gunshot wounds.

    Randall Ferguson was found dead at the scene. Debbie Ferguson died from her injuries after being transported to Gadsden Regional Medical Center.

    Tyler Ferguson was taken into custody in connection to the case. He resided at the same residence as his parents.

    Piedmont EMS and the Ohatchee Police Department assisted the sheriff’s office in the case.
