    New Birmingham Water Works initiative will assist northeast customers with bills

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Birmingham Water Works is partnering with the Community Action Agency of Northeast Alabama to assist low-income households in the area.

    According to a press release, the sector of the Community Action Agency will contribute payments of $300 to cover the cost of customers’ water bills.

    This initiative is designed to alleviate the financial burden on low-income households in Blount, Jefferson and St. Clair counties. Those interested in applying for assistance must contact the Community Action Agency of Northeast Alabama .

    “Our goal is to support families in need, ensuring that financial constraints do not compromise their access to essential services,” the agency’s executive director Carrie Lea stated in a press release. “This collaboration with Birmingham Water Works is a testament to our shared commitment to improving the lives of residents in Blount, Jefferson, and St. Clair counties.”
