McCalla man dies 5 days following crash

McCALLA, Ala. (WIAT) — A 49-year-old McCalla man died five days after being involved in a car crash in Jefferson County.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, William Jason McConnell was driving on Springdale Drive near Old Tuscaloosa Hwy on Aug. 9 when he was injured in a single-vehicle crash.

McConnell was taken to UAB Hospital for treatment where he died from his injuries on Wednesday.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
