Hattie’s Toyland joins Trussville’s entertainment district

A whimsical new shop has joined the ranks in Trussville’s rapidly growing Entertainment District.

Hattie’s Toyland, named in memory of owner Kelsee Philpot’s late daughter Hattie Ruth, opened Aug. 3 and sits on a quaint corner directly adjacent to Ferus Artisan Ales. With floor-to-ceiling windows that allow sunlight to fill the space, the shop is what every child– and every adult’s inner child– dreams of.

With something perfect for every kid, the shop features shelves and racks full of shiny dress-up clothes, wooden toy cars, plush dolls, fun knickknacks like silly putty, books, board games and so much more.

Owned and operated by the Philpot and her family, they are ecstatic to join Trussville’s small business community.

“It’s such a gift [to be part of the Trussville community],” said Philpot. “This community really does shop and support local [businesses] and there’s nowhere else I’d rather be.”

A member of the Trussville community since 2020, Philpot said that when the opportunity presented itself to open a toy shop, it was a no-brainer.

“This [Trussville] is where we live, this is where our kids go to school, and getting to see all these familiar faces come into the shop every week just confirms that this is the right place,” said Philpot.
