ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A Pell City man and woman are dead following a two-vehicle crash that occurred in St. Clair County on Saturday morning, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports.

Dustin R. Layfield, 33, and Audrey M. Peine, 25, were both fatally injured when the 2009 Toyota Camry driven by Billy R. McAnnally, 35, collided head-on with the 2017 Harley-Davidson motorcycle Layfield was operating. Peine was a passenger on the Harley-Davidson.

Layfield and Peine were both pronounced dead on the scene, and McAnnally was transported to UAB Hospital for medical treatment.

The crash occurred on U.S. 231 near the 221-mile marker, about one mile north of Pell City. Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are investigating.
