ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Ala ( WIAT ) — People were out all over Alabama Sunday enjoying the holiday weekend.

St. Clair County’s Lake Logan Martin was packed with people boating, tubing and just being outside enjoying the sun. The Birmingham Sailing Club turned into a beachfront resort for the Denson family on Sunday.

“We are knee boarding, tubing and just hanging out,” said Anna Denson.

The Labor Day fun didn’t stop at the lake. The Ark, a riverside restaurant, had more customers than usual due to the holiday.

“People come out to the lake, they spend their days out here, they get home, and they don’t want to cook so they come out and eat dinner with us,” said Kyle Ostermeyer, owner of the Ark Restaurant.

Ostermeyer says this time of year, he normally sees a drop in business, as many people are guided to the start of football season.

“Full slate of games, that kind of hurts our business a little bit, so the Labor Day weekend, it kind of levels it out on our Saturdays,” remarked Ostermeyer.

Ostermeyer believes that he will continue to see a rise in business after the holiday weekend.

“People are getting back out there a little bit and they’re starting to spend a little bit of money and travel,” Ostermeyer said. “I mean we get people from out of state all over the place and they come in and we heard about you, and they come in here and eat.”

Business owners and visitors at Lake Logan Martin say they expect Monday will be even busier.
