    Birmingham woman killed in hit-and-run identified

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A Birmingham woman killed in a hit-and-run last week was identified Thursday morning.

    Birmingham police respond to shooting involving officer near I-59

    On August 30, the Jefferson County Coroner confirms 48-year-old April Rosella Barton was crossing the roadway on Princeton Avenue SW at Lomb Avenue SW around 10:30 p.m. when she was struck by a vehicle.

    Barton was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at 10:58 p.m.

    The vehicle that struck Barton drove away from the scene following the collision. Birmingham police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.

    That's cold hearted knowing you got somebody and just keep going! I hope she didn't suffer but I'm sure she did...I hope they catch them! Praying for her family!
