    Coroner’s office searching for family of man killed in Birmingham shooting

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A man died at UAB Hospital Thursday days after being shot in Birmingham.

    According to the Birmingham Police Department, the man was found shot on August 30 while on the 4400 block of 41st Place North. Birmingham Fire and Rescue transported the man to UAB Hospital for treatment where he died from his injuries on September 5 around 12:41 p.m.

    Police said the victim was shot while on the 4100 block of 46th Avenue N. He then walked to a nearby home and knocked on the door before collapsing to the ground. The homeowner then called 911.

    The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 41-year-old Alfredo Rodrequz Ruiz, of Alabaster. The coroner’s office is requesting help locating family members of Ruiz. Anyone who is a family member or has knowledge of the family is asked to call the coroner’s office at 205-930-3603.

    No one is in custody at this time.
