Blount County man killed in 2-vehicle crash

BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A 64-year-old Blount County man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday afternoon, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports.

Gregory Cantrell, of Cleveland, was fatally injured when the Toyota Avalon he was operating collided head-on with a Toyota Highlander. The crash occurred on Alabama 160 around 3:20 p.m. about eight miles southwest of Hayden.

Cantrell was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Highlander was taken to UAB Hospital for medical treatment.

Troopers with the ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
