    City of Oxford to honor 1st responders who died on 9/11

    OXFORD, Ala. ( WIAT ) — The city of Oxford will honor the first responders who died in their efforts to save people on September 11, 2001, after the terrorist attacks.

    The city announced it will join the Oxford Fire Department, Oxford Police Department and Oxford Health Systems at Oxford City Hall on Wednesday.

    The city stated 343 firefighters, 60 law enforcement officers and 13 paramedics died at the World Trade Center and on the ground in New York on 9/11. Other first responders died after that day because of the exposure to dust and toxins during the rescue operations.

    The ceremony will start at 8:30 a.m., and the public is allowed to watch.
