    Former Mardi Gras queen killed in Alabama weekend crash

    MOBILE, Ala. ( WKRG ) — A former Mardi Gras queen was killed in a weekend crash in Mobile.

    Katherine Smith, 38, was on Airport Boulevard around 12:30 a.m. Sunday when another driver struck her SUV. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

    3rd arrest made in deadly gas station shooting in Bessemer

    Smith was the 2017 Mobile Area Mardi Gras Association Queen and a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.

    Spencer Strickland is in Mobile Metro Jail as of Monday morning and charged with manslaughter in connection to the crash.
