MONTGOMERY, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A former Alabama corrections officer was sentenced to over six years in prison for his role in a conspiracy to bring drugs into prison.

According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office – Middle District of Alabama, 46-year-old Henry Guice Jr. admitted during a plea hearing that he intended to distribute methamphetamine at the Staton Correctional Facility in Elmore County. Guice also admitted to conspiring with another person, 48-year-old inmate Brad Elliot Gordon, in order to traffic the meth throughout the jail.

Guice was originally arrested on June 20, 2023 after three bags of meth were found inside his vehicle at the jail. Guice was working inside the prison at the time and was found to have two additional bags of meth in his pockets.
