EUFAULA, Ala. ( WDHN ) — The Eufaula Police Department announced Tuesday morning that two juveniles were arrested for their alleged involvement in a Walmart fire last month .

According to Eufaula Police Chief Danny Christ, the first suspect was arrested Aug. 16, and the second was taken into custody Monday.

Police say the second arrest took longer because of an extradition process from Georgia.

Christ said one of the suspects will be charged as an adult, and the other will face charges as a juvenile. Their ages have not been released. Eufaula police are not expecting any additional arrests.

Reports showed the fire started in the store’s home appliance section on the evening of Aug. 10.

According to Eufaula Mayor Jack Tibbs, the fire is believed to have been arson and possibly part of a social media challenge linked to damage other Walmart stores have experienced in the past.

The circumstances surrounding the fire are still under investigation.
