Woman dies 2 weeks after Birmingham shooting

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A 40-year-old woman died Wednesday two weeks after being injured in a Birmingham shooting.

On August 28, police officers found Diana McCall, of Birmingham, shot and lying on the sidewalk on the 7700 block of 5th Avenue South. McCall was taken to UAB Hospital for treatment where she died from her injuries on September 11.

According to the Birmingham Police Department, the shooting stemmed from a fight between two women and a man. The confrontation between McCall and the man escalated, and the man allegedly shot McCall before leaving the scene.

Police said everyone involved in the shooting has been identified and the case will be presented to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.
