Piedmont police and the Center for Applied Forensics at Jacksonville State University started investigating the shooting. They determined a domestic argument started between the woman and her boyfriend, who was identified as 42-year-old Damien Michael Bailey. The suspect allegedly shot his girlfriend.

Bailey was arrested and is charged with murder, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bailey was booked into the Calhoun County Jail and is being held on no bond while awaiting an Aniah’s Law hearing.

Police are continuing to investigate the case.
