    Carolina Panthers bench Bryce Young 2 weeks into 2024 season

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. ( WIAT ) — The Carolina Panthers are benching former No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young, per Bleacher Report .

    The former Alabama quarterback is 2-17 as the starting quarterback for the Panthers. Through two games, Young has thrown for 245 yards, zero touchdowns, three interceptions and has the second-lowest QBR at 8.9. Carolina now turns to veteran quarterback Andy Dalton ahead of its Week 3 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

    Carolina drafted Young with the first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft after an incredible career at Alabama. He became the first Crimson Tide quarterback to win the Heisman Trophy during the 2021-22 season and led Bama to the national championship game. Young set the Bama single-season record for passing yards in 2021, throwing for 4,872 yards.

    He finished his career at the Capstone with a 23-4 record, 8,356 yards, 80 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
