JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Jefferson County deputies are searching for a man who is charged with attempted murder in connection to a shooting that occurred earlier in September.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 5400 block of Livingston Oaks Circle around 8:26 p.m. on Sept. 7 on report of a person shot. At the scene, law enforcement found a 43-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Center Point Fire District personnel transported the man to UAB Hospital, who was diagnosed with not life-threatening injuries.

The JCSO’s preliminary investigation suggests the victim and 33-year-old Duchorn Clayton were in a verbal argument that turned physical. Clayton allegedly shot the victim and fled the scene.

Besides facing an attempted murder charge, Clayton is charged with certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm. The attempted murder charge carries a $60,000 bond, while the other charge has a $15,000 bond.

Those with information on Clayton’s whereabouts are urged to call the JCSO at 205-325-1450 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
