Woman killed in shooting at Birmingham bar identified

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a shooting at 604 Bar and Lounge on 9th Street North.

On arrival at the scene, BPD found a female victim shot. She was transported to UAB Hospital where she died from her injuries.

Birmingham police believe a suspect fired shots into the building from the outside. Police do not believe that the shooting was random, but it is unclear if the victim was the intended target.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim 35-year-old Diontranet Tinae Brown.

Multiple other patrons and employees were inside the building but were uninjured.
