    Man killed after confrontation at Birmingham convenience store identified

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting at a convenience store in West End Tuesday evening.

    Public information officer Truman Fitzgerald said reports were called in just after 5 p.m. at the Big Boy Convenience Store off Pearson Avenue Southwest.

    Upon arrival, officers found an adult male who was shot and lying in front of the store. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service transported him to UAB Hospital, but he was pronounced dead while en route.

    Investigators believed two men got into a fight at the store, which led the suspect to shoot the victim multiple times. Fitzgerald stated police are searching for more than one person in connection to the shooting.

    The victim was later identified as 26-year-old Malike Williams.

    Those with information on the case are urged to call BPD at 205-254-1764 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
