CHILTON COUNTY, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Two people were killed in a single-vehicle crash that occurred in Chilton County Thursday morning, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports.

Ronnie G. Smith, 66, and Teasha S. Biggs, 44, both of Dickson, Tenn., were both killed when the 2005 Toyota Tundra they were passengers in left the roadway and overturned. Neither Smith nor Biggs were using seatbelts at the time of the crash. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, Earnest H. Biggs, was transported to St. Vincent’s Chilton Hospital in Clanton for his injuries. A 12-year-old juvenile who was a passenger in the vehicle was also transported to an area hospital for treatment for his injuries.

The crash occurred on Interstate 65 near the 198 mile marker, about one mile south of Verbena, in Chilton County. Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are investigating the crash.
