    University of Montevallo’s community counseling clinic receives $50,000 grant

    MONTEVALLO, Ala. ( WIAT ) — The University of Montevallo’s Grainger Community Counseling and Wellness Clinic will receive accessibility upgrades thanks to a new grant.

    The University of Montevallo Foundation was awarded a $50,000 T-Mobile Hometown Grant, which will be used to create accessible parking and a playground for the clinic’s patients.

    “It is an honor for UM to receive the T-Mobile Hometown Grant,” Dr. Latofia Parker, director of the clinic and associate professor of graduate counseling stated in a press release. “It will help us continue our mission of providing quality services to our clients at the Grainger Community Counseling and Wellness Clinic.”

    Alabama Rep. Terri Sewell to announce $850,000 to improve public safety at Miles College

    Established in 2023 , the clinic provides counseling and wellness services at no cost to clients in rural central Alabama.

    “The Grainger Community Counseling and Wellness Clinic has been an invaluable resource to the families we serve,” Shelby Emergency Assistance Executive Director Brooke McKinley stated in a press release. “We’re so excited to know that with this funding, they’ll be able to serve clients with special needs even better.”

    In partnership with Main Street America, T-Mobile’s Hometown Grant program has invested $25 million for projects such as technology upgrades and community centers in 500 rural towns.
