Taylor Hicks headlining Samfest in north Alabama

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — “American Idol” alum and local restauranteur Taylor Hicks is one of several musical acts who will be performing in a festival honoring the SAM Foundation.

Hicks, who won the singing competition in 2006 and later became an investor in several restaurants across Birmingham, including Saw’s, will headline Samfest, which will be held Oct. 12 at the Sweet Seasons Farm in Valley Head.

The SAM Foundation’s mission is suicide prevention, as well as awareness and education of how depression and suicidal ideations affect people.

Other acts performing at the festival include Jess Goggans Band, The Locals and acoustic acts Ryan Keef and Elisha Tatum.
