Boaz man killed in DeKalb County crash

DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A Boaz man was killed in a DeKalb County crash on Saturday, Sept. 28.

Apolinario Velasquez, 26, was killed when the Nissan he was driving was struck by a GMC around 10:21 p.m. Both cars left the roadway after impact. The Nissan overturned and then was struck again by the GMC.

Velasquez was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. An 18 and 16-year-old in the GMC were injured and taken to an area hospital for treatment.

The passenger in the Nissan was also injured and taken to Huntsville Hospital for treatment. Nothing else is available as ALEA continues to investigate.
