    Woman dies after being hit by driver involved in police pursuit in Bessemer

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A woman was killed in a wreck involving a driver who was reportedly trying to escape from police in Bessemer Monday afternoon.

    Calera residents express concern with Waterford Subdivision plan

    Angela Strickland Lockhart, 70, died at UAB Hospital at 5:17 p.m. Monday, hours after being hit head-on by another car near the 109.1 mile marker of I-59/20 North. According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Lockhart was hit at 1:17 p.m.

    No arrests have been announced, nor have any details of what led up to the chase been revealed.

    The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating the case.
