Tracking the Tropics : Hurricane Milton remains a dangerous major hurricane this morning. It is expected to battle some wind shear on Wednesday before it makes landfall Wednesday night into Thursday morning as a Category 3 or 4 Hurricane along Florida’s West-Central Coast. This will cause a significant storm surge, devastating winds, and heavy rain across Florida. Milton has the potential to be one of the most destructive hurricanes on record for West-Central Florida.

Wednesday : On Wednesday, Hurricane Milton will sit off the Florida West Coast, and it will start to battle wind shear from a trough of low pressure. Alabama will be between Milton and the high-pressure north of the state. This will cause it to become breezy across the region with winds of 10-20 mph. We will stay sunny and dry with highs in the lower 80s. Milton will make landfall Wednesday night into Thursday morning near Tampa, FL as a major hurricane with winds of 120-130 mph.

Thursday: It will stay breezy on Thursday across Alabama as Milton moves across Florida. High pressure will remain north of the state, so we will have more sunshine and high temperatures in the lower 80s.

Friday: A dry cold front will move across the Southeast U.S. on Friday. We will remain sunny, but it will be a tad cooler with highs in the upper 70s. Lows will be in the 50s.

Weekend Outlook : The area of high pressure will stay over the Southeast U.S. all weekend. Saturday and Sunday will be sunny and warm. High temperatures will be around 80 on Saturday and warm up into the middle 80s on Sunday.

Next Week: Even cooler air moves in next week behind a Monday cold front. Dry weather continues, with highs dipping into the 60s(!) by the middle of next week with morning lows into the 40s.
