BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Week 6 of college football ending up being the weekend of upsets, as teams in the top 10 were left stunned on the road.

Arguably the biggest upset of the decade came in Nashville when Vanderbilt shocked No. 1 Alabama, winning 40-35. It was a seemingly flawless performance from the Commodores, who executed their game plan to perfection. They kept Bama off the field, created turnovers and didn’t turn the ball over. Vanderbilt finished 12-of-18 on third downs. Quarterback Diego Pavia was 16-for-20 for 252 yards and two touchdowns.

Continuing in the SEC, No. 4 Tennessee was upset on the road in Fayetteville against Arkansas. Receiver Andrew Armstrong gave the Volunteer defense fits, as he caught nine passes for 132 yards. The Razorbacks did a great job as well of holding onto the ball and had 35:29 in possession time. Quarterback Taylen Green finished 19-of-27 for 266 yards.

In a rematch of the 2024 national championship game, Washington got its revenge over No. 10 Michigan, 27-17. A quarterback change for Michigan wasn’t enough, as Jack Tuttle came in and replace Alex Orji. Michigan suffered its first conference loss of the season, and both programs are now 4-2. The passing attack struggled for the Wolverines again, as they only threw for a total of 113 yards.
