    When is the last time South Carolina beat Alabama in football?

    TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Alabama returns to home to Nick Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday.

    It’s only the 17th meeting between the two schools, with Alabama leading the series, 13-3. The last time the two teams met was in 2019, with Alabama leaving Columbia with a dominant 47-23 victory. Tua Tagovailoa threw for 444 passing yards and five touchdowns in the win. DeVonta Smith led the way in a stacked receiving room with 136 yards and two scores.

    South Carolina last defeated the Crimson Tide in 2010. Alabama went into Columbia ranked No. 1 in the country and lost, 35-21. Stephen Garcia was nearly flawless, finishing 17-of-20 for 201 yards and three touchdowns. Alshon Jeffery dominated Tide defensive backs with 127 yards and two touchdowns. Marcus Lattimore had two scores as well on the ground with 93 yards on 23 carries.

    Despite controlling time of possession and having more yards, South Carolina got to Greg McElroy, who was sacked seven times in the game. McElroy finished the game by going 27-for-34 with 315 yards and two touchdowns. Julion Jones led all receivers with 118 yards and a touchdown on eight catches.

    Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. on ABC.
