DOTHAN, Ala. ( WDHN ) — The Alabama ABC Board is holding a statewide contest, allowing residents to enter for a chance to win a spot in a limited-release whiskey-purchasing event.

From Monday to Oct. 27, Alabama residents 21 or older can enter the Alabama ABC Select Spirits 2024 Limited Release Sweepstakes to win a reserved spot in line at a limited-release event held at eight ABC stores around the state Dec. 14

Each store will have 150 reserved spots in line to purchase restricted quantities of “highly coveted” whiskey brands like Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon and Old Forester

The eight ABC stores participating in the 2024 sweepstakes are:

    • ABC Store #04 – 1199 S. Donahue Dr., Auburn, AL 36830
    • ABC Store #53 – 8115 Hwy. 72 West, Madison, AL 35758
    • ABC Store #55 – 201 Rele St., Mountain Brook, AL 35223
    • ABC Store #67 – 160 Baldwin Sq., Fairhope, AL 36532
    • ABC Store #87 – 5832 Hwy. 90 West, Theodore, AL 36582
    • ABC Store #102 – 3420 McFarland Blvd. East, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405
    • ABC Store #175 – 2786 Eastern Blvd., Montgomery, AL 36117
    • ABC Store #185 – 1641 Ashville Rd., Leeds, AL 35244

Those who win a spot in one of the eight lines will be assigned a designated time to arrive, register, line up and enter the store based on their awarded position. Registration for the winners at each store begins at 8 a.m. on the event day, and the first 30 winners will line up at 8:45 a.m.

The Alabama ABC Board wants to remind those who enter that winning only guarantees a reserved spot in line, not a specific product or brand. The whiskeys will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved or placed on hold.

Those who do not win a spot in line can participate in the “walk-up line,” where participants can enter the store and purchase the highly sought-after liquor once the designated 150 winners leave. To enter for a chance to win, go to the Alabama ABC Board’s website here .

All active military personnel stationed in Alabama who can provide proof of residency can enter the sweepstakes.

Drawings for the reserved spots will occur on Oct. 28, and all winners will be notified via text and email by Oct. 29.
