Today: After another cool morning, the pleasant weather continues. Expect plenty of sunshine with highs near 80, which is very close to average for this point of October.

High School Football: The games begin mild, but temperatures will drop quickly, dipping to the 60s by halftime under a clear sky.

Weekend: The dry weather continues along with the string of warm days and cool nights. Afternoon highs will range in the low to middle 80s with morning lows in the upper 40s to lower 50s.

Next Week: A cold front arrives Monday, delivering a blast of chilly, winter-like air! Afternoon highs hold in the 60s by Tuesday and Wednesday, and with a brisk north wind it will feel even colder. Morning lows plummet to the 40s, and we can’t rule out the possibility for some pockets of north Alabama to fall into the upper 30s.
