    Birmingham police investigating shooting

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a homicide that left a man dead Friday.

    According to BPD, officers responded to the 8200 block of 4th Avenue North around 12:19 p.m. on reports of a person shot. Officers arrived on the scene and were notified that the victim has run to a shed in the 300 block of 83rd Street North. Officers then observed the victim inside the shed, lying unresponsive suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

    Preliminary investigation suggests that the victim came to a residence in the 8200 block of 4th Avenue. While at the residence, a verbal altercation occurred between the victim and the suspect possibly outside the residence. During the dispute, the suspect shot the victim. The victim ran from the location to the 300 block of 83rd Street, where he collapsed in the shed.
