    City of Birmingham seeking tutors for 3rd graders ahead of ACAP

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — The City of Birmingham is seeking qualified retired teachers or teachers with flexible schedules to help provide reading tutoring services to third grade students ahead of the Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program (ACAP).

    ‘Encanto’ sing-along concert coming to UAB

    The ACAP begins in mid-March and continues in April. Selected teachers will tutor third grade students in reading, daily, over a six month period. There will be a monthly stipend for participating educators.

    At the conclusion of the 2023-24 school year, Birmingham City Schools’ third grade literacy tests increased from 53% to 86%. For more information, click here .
