BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A UAB kicker was named the American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday after an outstanding performance at South Florida in Week 8.

Jonah Delange converted from 29, 32, 41 and 48 yards out in Tampa on Saturday. The sophomore tallied 13 points in the Blazers’ 35-25 loss to the Bulls. The four field goals are tied for the third most in a contest in UAB history.

Alabama falls to No. 15 in AP Top 25

The Mobile product is one of four kickers in the nation with at least 10 field goal attempts who has not missed. His 14 field goals are tied for the fourth most across the FBS.

Delange handled kickoff responsibilities for the Blazers in 2023, but if he sends two more kicks through the uprights, he will be in the top 10 in UAB history for most career field goals made. The longest field goal he’s converted is from 51 yards out against Army, which is good for seventh longest in the Blazer record book.

The 1-6 Blazers will face Tulsa at Protective Stadium for their Homecoming game on Nov. 2.
