    44-year-old Bessemer man killed in shooting identified

    BESSEMER, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A 44-year-old Bessemer man shot and killed Thursday night has been identified.

    The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirms Tavares Deone Moore was shot on the 2900 block of 9th Avenue North around 8:56 p.m. Moore was taken to UAB Hospital and pronounced dead at 9:40 p.m.

    According to the Bessemer Police Department, Moore was able to provide a brief statement to officers prior to being transported to UAB Hospital. Police said Moore and an unidentified suspect in the shooting knew each other.

    Moore’s death is being investigated by the Bessemer Police Department as homicide.

    No further details are available.
