    55-year-old inmate dies days after being found unresponsive at Jefferson County Jail

    BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — An inmate at the Jefferson County Jail died days after being found unresponsive in his cell.

    According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, the 55-year-old inmate, whose is being withheld until his family has been notified, was found unresponsive in his private cell at the jail at 3:08 p.m. Oct. 21. He was subsequently taken to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:43 a.m. Saturday.

    No evidence of trauma or foul play have been found in connection with his death. There are further tests still being conducted.

    The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case.

    THEY NEED TO BETTER WITH THESE INMATES, DON'T CARE ABOUT LIVES SO MANY INMATES CRY OUT FOR HELP AND IT GOES IGNORED.ITS LIKE THEY FEEL SOME KIND OF WAY LETTING THEM SUFFER AND PASS NO COMPASSION IT IS TRULY SAD
