    Pleasant Grove man struck, killed by vehicle identified

    JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A 29-year-old Pleasant Grove man struck and killed by a vehicle last week was identified Monday morning.

    Man arrested after allegedly trying to kidnap 4-year-old child from gas station in Jefferson County

    According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Devante Laface Gilmore was walking on the the shoulder of Ensley-Pleasant Grove Road around 7:00 p.m. on August 15 when he was struck by a car. The driver of the vehicle reportedly called police to notify them that she hit an unknown object in the road.

    Several hours later, Gilmore’s body was discovered in the tall grass off of the roadway. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding Gilmore’s death.
