Friday: The upper-level low will move SW into the Gulf of Mexico. An area of high pressure will sit NE of Alabama. This will draw down drier and less humid air across Central Alabama. It will be mostly sunny and hot. High temperatures will be around 90.

Friday Night Football : The weather will be great for the first week of high school football. 7 PM Kickoff temperatures will be around 80, and they will fall to the lower 70s with lower humidity by the end of the game.

Weekend Outlook : The area of high pressure will remain northeast of Alabama, and that will keep less humid northeast winds over us. Saturday and Sunday will be partly cloudy, hot, and not very humid for late August. High temperatures will climb into the lower to middle 90s each day.

Next Week’s Outlook : A heat dome will set up over the Southern Plains States and stretch to Alabama. This will lead to sweltering temperatures all next week. Monday through Thursday will be mostly sunny with highs in the middle to upper 90s. Some places could get to 100. Fortunately, the humidity will be at bearable levels, so the heat index will only be around 100 on Tuesday and Wednesday. A few showers could return by Friday.
