    Hot, humid, and stormy weather Thursday through Labor Day Weekend

    Thursday : The high pressure will move northeast of Alabama on Thursday, bringing back southeast winds. That will keep us humid and bring in spotty showers. High temperatures will still be in the middle to upper 90s, and the heat index will be between 100-105+.

    Football Forecast : UAB takes on Alcorn at 7 PM in Birmingham and it will be partly cloudy with a chance for a downpour. Temperatures will be in the 80s. Jacksonville State takes on Coastal Carolina at 7 PM in Jacksonville. It will also be partly cloudy with a few downpours possible in the first half. Temperatures will be in the 80s.

    Friday: The area of high pressure will continue to move east and weaken. This will allow a cold front to move toward Alabama from the north, and an upper-level wave to move across the SE U.S. It will be partly cloudy, hot, and more humid with scattered showers and storms popping up in the afternoon and evening. This will be welcome rain to the region. High temperatures will be in the middle 90s, and the heat index will be around 100-105°. It will be warm and muggy with a few downpours at the high school football games. Temperatures will be in the 80s.

    Labor Day Weekend Outlook : A cold front stalls north of Alabama this weekend. Saturday through Monday will be partly cloudy, hot, and humid with much-needed scattered showers and storms. Some downpours will be possible. However, it will not be a washout, so keep your plans. High temperatures will be in the lower to middle 90s.

    Football Forecasts : It will be a hot and humid weekend across Central Alabama with scattered storms during the afternoon and early evening. This will impact tailgating in Tuscaloosa and Auburn. 6 PM Kickoff weather in Tuscaloosa will be partly cloudy with a slight chance for a downpour and temps in the 80s. In Auburn for the 6:30 PM kickoff it will be partly cloudy with a slight chance for a downpour and temps in the 80s.

    Tracking the Tropics : A disorganized tropical wave is located over the Central Tropical Atlantic. Some slow development is possible this weekend into early next week as the wave moves WNW toward the Lesser Antilles. NHC is giving this system a medium chance of developing.
