Northbound Lanes On Florida Avenue Will Be Closed Wednesday Night
TAMPA, FL (CW44 News At 10) –Beginning, October 13, 2021, at 9pm tonight, all northbound lanes on North Florida Avenue will close between East Bird Street and East Waters Avenue while the Tampa Water Department conducts scheduled maintenance on the water distribution system. Northbound traffic will be diverted into the center turn lane. Barricades and signs will be located in the area to assist with rerouting and traffic flow. Please consider alternate routes and use caution when driving in the area. Modifications to lane closures may be necessary during the course of the work. The completion of the work with a return to normal traffic patterns is expected by 5am, Thursday, October 14. Oakland Park Man Sentenced For Armed Robbery
MIAMI, Fla. (CW44 News At 10)– U.S. District Judge William P. Dimitrouleas handed down a 30-year federal prison sentence for Bryan David Burke, an Oakland Park man who went on a one-month armed robbery spree in South Florida earlier this year. The judge sentenced a second armed robber, Fort Lauderdale resident Kelvyn Lavon Cross, Jr., to 17 years’ imprisonment. MIAMI, Fla. (CW44 News At 10) – Miami resident Michael Mendoza, 61, pled guilty last week in South Florida federal district court to receiving and possessing child pornography. He faces up to 20 years in prison on each of the counts. Florida Man Sentenced For Possessing Fentanyl With Intent To Distribute
FORT MYERS, Fla. (CW44 News At 10)– U.S. District Judge Sheri Polster Chappell has sentenced David Levon Massey (32, Cape Coral) to 20 years in federal prison for possessing fentanyl with the intent to distribute. Massey had pleaded guilty on July 7, 2021. According to court documents, in February 2020, Massey was released from federal prison after serving more than nine years for organizing a prescription pill distribution ring. Shortly after his release, law enforcement received several tips that Massey was again distributing drugs. In October 2020, during the execution of a search warrant at Massey’s residence, law enforcement officers recovered nearly 100 grams of fentanyl, two firearms, and thousands of dollars in cash.
