BALTIMORE -- A shooting at the White Oak School in Parkville left one person dead, and another injured, on Labor Day.

Police responded to the 8400 block of Leefield Road around 4:20 p.m. Monday, after reports of shots fired. The school was closed on Monday for the Labor Day holiday.

When police arrived, they found Romy Bogier, 43, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A second man was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Maxine Xine, who lives nearby, said she was playing with her cats and watching TV when she heard loud bangs and took cover.

"Next thing I hear is bang bang bang bang," Xine said .

Baltimore County Police continued to canvass the scene behind the school on Tuesday as students were in class.

"My mother-in-law called me to the back of the house, and she said, 'Max, come look at this; it's a body,'" Xine said.

Xine said at least 30 officers surrounded the trail next to her home where police said Bogier was shot. She then overhead police say there was another shooting victim near the school dumpster.

"There's another one over here guys, come this way," Xine said. "And they're all heading toward the school dumpsters."

Xine, who has lived in her home for a year, said the shooting in the quiet neighborhood was a surprise.

"No loud sounds, nothing, literally like no yelling, no screaming, just bang bang bang," Xine said.

As detectives continue to investigate the shooting, neighbors hope violence doesn't continue near the school.

"I just instantly became worried for the children," Xine said. "There's a park right up the road, there's another school right up the road, the other school is right across the street. There's so many schools near me. I'm just worried."

According to the school website, White Oak is an elementary school that provides, "academic and behavioral services for students impacted by a variety of disabilities with a focus on students with behavioral disorders."

Metro Crime Stoppers is offering a $2000 reward for information. Anyone with information relating to the case should contact 410-307-2020.
