Baltimore Ravens unveil upgrades at M&T Bank Stadium 02:28

BALTIMORE - The statues of Baltimore football legends Johnny Unitas and Ray Lewis have been relocated from their normal position on the north side of M&T Bank Stadium, outside of Gate A, to allow crews to work on more stadium renovations.

The statues were moved to the south side of the stadium, near Gate D, for the entire 2024 season as construction resumes on a brand-new North Plaza, which will be open in 2025.

The statues will return to Gate A upon completion of all stadium construction.

The Ravens' first home game is on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.

    Stadium renovation projects

These renovations are part of a three-part, $430 million project called "The Next Evolution," which should be completed by 2026.

The first phase, completed in August , includes a new roof deck to give fans a place to sit, eat and drink before, during and after each home game.

New on-field seats will bring fans closer than ever to the on-field action. An upgraded club level and a new ultra-luxury suite, The BlackWing, offers visitors the best views and a game-day experience like no other.

    Lewis and Unitas

Ray Lewis was a first-round draft pick in 1996, and he played his entire 17-year career with the Baltimore Ravens. Lewis, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, helped lead the Ravens to two Super Bowl championships.

He was a two-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, a 13-time Pro Bowler and owns the NFL record for career tackles.

Johnny Unitas played for the Baltimore Colts from 1956 to 1972. He led the Colts to the Super Bowl V championship and was a three-time Most Valuable Player.

Unitas is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
