Man killed, employee injured in shooting at restaurant on Chicago's West Side

CHICAGO (CBS) — A man was killed, and an employee was injured in a shooting at a restaurant in Little Village .

Around 11:35 p.m., police said a 30-year-old man was walking into Delicias Mexicanas restaurant, in the 4100 block of West 26th Street, when two men fired shots.

Surveillance video from outside the restaurant shows the victim standing outside, when a white SUV pulled up, the driver turned out the hazard lights, and two people got out and started shooting.

The 30-year-old was shot multiple times in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said bullets went through the glass window of the restaurant, hitting a 27-year-old woman in the buttocks. The woman, a restaurant employee, was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in serious condition.

Minutes after the shooting, surveillance video shows people running out of the building. Then, others run from across the street to Delicia's, and police arrive on the scene.

An employee who didn't want to be identified said the restaurant has been in business for 15 years, and because of the violence in the area, they keep their doors locked at night.

The employee said people can't come in and eat in peace, because they don't know when violence is going to hit.

No one was in custody Tuesday afternoon. Area 4 detectives were investigating.
