1 person injured, 1 dog rescued and a dozen people displaced in Aurora house fire 00:23

One person was seriously injured in a house fire in Aurora on Sunday night. A dozen people were displaced and a dog was rescued from the fire.

Aurora Fire Rescue crews rushed to the home near the intersection of Moline Street and E. Highline Drive in Aurora. When they arrived they saw smoke coming from the two-story, single-family residence. A seriously injured male had been rescued by other people in the home before crews arrived.

That person was outside the home when firefighters began giving him medical attention and rushed him to the hospital in critical condition.

Firefighters extinguished the fire in the second-floor bedroom while other crews searched for more victims inside the home.

A dog was rescued from the fire and revived. No one else was found inside.

A total of 12 adults and children, as well as six pets, were displaced from the home. The Red Cross is providing assistance to them.

What caused the fire is being investigated.
