COVID trend reaches "high" levels across western U.S.
A key indicator for tracking the spread of COVID-19 has officially reached "high" levels across western U.S. states, data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now shows. I-76 reopens after crash closed eastbound lanes at Sheridan Boulevard
A crash that happened before sunrise on Tuesday in the western part of the Denver metro area led to an extended interstate closure. Interstate 76 eastbound was closed through rush hour on Tuesday morning. The closure was at Sheridan Boulevard. The crash happened between Sheridan Boulevard and Wadsworth Boulevard, close to where Jefferson County meets Denver's city limits. Authorities so far haven't said why the closure of the eastbound lanes is lasting for so long. Washington — The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered lower courts to take another look at challenges to several federal and state firearms restrictions in the wake of its ruling upholding a law that bans people subject to domestic violence restraining orders from having guns.The cases had been pending before the court for months while it considered the constitutionality of the 30-year-old law that disarmed alleged domestic abusers. CBI searching for minivan and female driver after hit & run
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation wants the public to be on the lookout for a white minivan that was involved in a fatal crash and a woman who was driving it. A male was struck at a Denver intersection and the driver took off after briefly stopping. The victim later died as a result of his injuries.A CBI Medina Alert was issued early Tuesday morning. It includes images of the vehicle and the female suspect, who was wearing a pink tank top and sunglasses.The crash happened at the intersection of Ogden Street and East Colfax Avenue on June 25 at 11:13 a.m. The minivan was a 2016 Dodge Caravan with a Montana license plate 2-99798B.Anyone who sees the woman or the minivan is asked to call 911 or 720-913-2000.
Aurora police creates safety plan for Colfax Avenue and Havana Street
Aurora police have developed a plan to increase safety and clean up the intersection at Colfax Avenue and Havana Avenue. Breckenridge bans single-use plastics
Breckenridge's ordinance banning single-use plastics -- like plastic forks and plastic water bottles -- has entered its second phase as of July 1. Wallet found on shore of Poudre Pond leads to discovery of 2 dead bodies
When firefighters were training in a Northern Colorado pond, they likely didn't expect to have to respond to an actual emergency in that very location.But that's what happened when someone approached the Greeley firefighters after having found a wallet and several other personal items last Thursday.Greeley police officers responded and tried to locate the owners of the wallet, clothing, cellphone and a vehicle found nearby, but were unsuccessful. They requested the help of the Greeley Fire Department's dive team.Several days later, the department used sonar technology to scan the pond and found the bodies of two men.The bodies were removed from the pond on Sunday. The Greeley Police Department says the men were 23 and 21 years old, respectively, but will not be publicly identified until their families have been notified.So far, investigators believe the deaths were accidental.The Poudre Ponds Recreational Fishery, at the intersection of 35th Avenue and the Poudre River, is a recreational area popular among anglers and boaters. Firefighters in Arapahoe County on Monday morning responded to a fire at a house. Authorities said a body was found in the home soon after the first responders got there.The person who died was determined to be a woman. The circumstances surrounding her death are unclear. Boulder County enacts fire restrictions
Boulder County's sheriff enacted stage 1 fire restrictions. The restrictions are effective immediately. Restrictions mean residents cannot use charcoal grills, burn campfires on public lands, and shoot firearms for recreational purposes except for hunting on public lands.
